Port Blair, Aug 22: Setting an example, the people of A&N Islands,
have taken an initiative to help people of Kerala, who are now suffering from
natural calamity. Dozens and Dozens of faceless and responsible Islanders with
the help of the MP, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, have raised the fund amounting to Rs.
93,910/- (in rupees) and collected the relief materials worth around 25,00,000
for the flood hit people of Kerala. Packing was done with the help of
volunteer students from DBRAIT and
officers and men of Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy. All the rescue kits are
being airlifted by Andaman Nicobar Command to Kerala on Aug 21, 2018. Around
2.5MT relief materials were airlifted to Kerala through aircraft of ANC.
Port Blair, June 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, along with the Ex-chairperson PBMC, K Ganeshan today met the Secretary, APWD at his office and discussed major water projects proposed in the islands. He informed the Secretary about the difficulties faced by the residents due to the water crisis Six Municipal Wards, particularly during the dry season. He also requested the Secretary, APWD for completing the repair works of pipelines damaged due to the Dairy Farm Culvert Project. The Secretary, APWD informed the MP that out of the two pipelines damaged at the culvert project site, repair work of one pipeline is already completed and repair work of another pipeline is under progress which will also be completed shortly.
