Port Blair, Dec 05: The new wing of Police Family
Welfare Centre (PFWC) of A&N Police was inaugurated by Smt. Geeta Pathak,
President, Police Family Welfare Association (PFWA) at Police Lines on
04.12.2018. Shri Dependra Pathak, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N
Islands, Shri Sanjay Singh, IPS, IGP, Shri Vimal Anand Gupta, IPS, DIGP, Senior
Police officers and police personnel of A&N Police & their family
members were also present on the occasion.
The new wing of PFWC houses a computer lab for
providing computer classes to the wards and families of police personnel; an
activity-cum-entertainment hall for organizing dance, music and hobby classes
as well as cultural & entertainment programmes and a skill development centre
for providing skill training in various trades like stitching, embroidery,
handicraft making etc.
Police Family Welfare Centre was established in the
year 1974. It has since been engaged in promoting welfare of families of
Andaman & Nicobar Police. Various welfare and recreational activities were
organized by Police Family Welfare Centre from time to time. With the
establishment of new wing, efforts are being made to revive PFWC in a more
structural and organized manner by adopting a three pronged approach viz.
making ongoing projects sustainable; launch of new initiatives; honing of
skills & talents and promoting financial independence.
Addressing the gathering, Smt. Geeta Pathak, lauded
the efforts of PFWC in organizing various welfare and recreational programmes
for the families of police personnel and dedicated the new wing to the police
families so as to provide skills, knowledge and empowerment to them. She also
motivated the police families to come together and actively participate in the
activities of PFWC that are being organized for their welfare.
The
Director General of Police, A&N Islands also conveyed his heartiest
greetings and best wishes to all police personnel and their family members and
emphasized on organizing various welfare activities for the benefit of family
members of police personnel.
