From School Teacher to Educational Administrator

Dr. S. Ganesan
Regional Director, IGNOU
It is a well known fact that by acquiring / qualifying B.Ed., degree, one can become school teacher. But, what is next?  The teacher is always expected to be a learner, through life-long continuing education. The upward movement of school teacher towards management positions is one of the preferred carrier paths. Moving up in the carrier ladder needs certain special qualities, such as: mastery in subjects, specializations, super-specializations, research etc. The level jump requires certain additional qualification(s) in the field of education. People respect their head, when he/she posses extra-qualifications as compared to others. The supervisor/executive must be in high position to command his/her subordinations; the positional elevation is possible through acquiring additional qualifications in the field (besides experience/seniority).
