It
is a well known fact that by acquiring / qualifying B.Ed., degree, one can
become school teacher. But, what is next?
The teacher is always expected to be a learner, through life-long
continuing education. The upward movement of school teacher towards management
positions is one of the preferred carrier paths. Moving up in the carrier
ladder needs certain special qualities, such as: mastery in subjects, specializations,
super-specializations, research etc. The level jump requires certain additional
qualification(s) in the field of education. People respect their head, when
he/she posses extra-qualifications as compared to others. The
supervisor/executive must be in high position to command his/her
subordinations; the positional elevation is possible through acquiring
additional qualifications in the field (besides experience/seniority).

We all know that the higher
cadres are converging at management namely- ‘lower level management’, ‘middle
level management’, and ‘top level management’.
Being so, managing men, in other words, the Human Resource Management is
inseparable part of any management system. The skill of managing men (and
women) is harnessed through MBA-Human Resource (or) PG Diploma in Human
Resource Management Studies. But, we see only few number of administrators, in
Educational Management at school level, with Post Graduate Diploma in Human
Resource Management/MBA- Human Resource Management. Thus, a bright scope is
available for school teachers with Human Resource Management Specialization for
school management cadres.
The combinations
of academic qualification(s) such as –M.A., B.Ed, M.B.A. (HR) will place
Assistant Education Officer (AEO) with high respect among school teachers population.
Similarly, the combination- B.Sc, B.Ed., MA-Education (or) MA, B.Ed, PG Diploma in
School Leadership Management are preferred for school Head Master position. The
educational qualification-Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology for a
Computer Science subject teacher will place him/her in limelight in zonal level. He/she will be preferred person
for presentation in All India Radio or Doordarshan Kendra, due to his/her
specialization diploma.

desirable slot, the acquired academic qualifications facilitate in long-term.
Thus, aligning one’s qualifications for higher position/higher portfolio/higher
responsibilities etc. is need of the hour. Play your trump card, at right place
at right time, will fetch educational manager positions easily. Imagine a
school teacher having qualifications like- MA-Education, M.A.
(Sociology), M.A. (Anthropology), B.Ed; (or) MA-Education, B.Ed, Post Graduate
