Blair, Apr 17: In the month of March 2019, the Indira Gandhi National Open
University Regional Centre, Port Blair has sent over 10,000 SMs to the students
in of A&N Islands. As reminder to timely apply for June, 2018 exam SMS
alert was sent to 1317 students.
Similarly,
to collect the study materials from IGNOU Warehouse Shadipur SMS instruction
was sent to 888 students. For 32nd Convocation, the Regional Centre sent 756
SMs invitation to students. For July 2018 session students a second reminder
SMs was sent to 1169 students. Very regularly the Regional Centre sent SMS for
its Saturday Video-Classes on Friday for nearly 100 students per week.
Besides
the SMS, 28 Press-Releases have been published in local print media/ electronic
media in the month of March, 2019. The SMS communication to students covers
Gyandarshan Teleclass intimation, alerts to submit assignments pre-intimation
of degree dispatch status, theory and practical classes organized at Regional
Centre, academic activities of the Port Blair city, special events/ celebration
(women's Day etc.), informing the reference book list at Regional Centre
Library to selective group of students, advisory note to collect undelivered
mark sheet, provisional certificate, study materials.
Yearly,
near about 50,000 SMSs are being used to communicate with 5,000 students of the
Islands. The suggestions are invited to improve the SMS services of IGNOU
Regional Centre, Port Blair, a communication from Regional Director, IGNOU,
Regional Centre, Port Blair said.
