Haat at Junglighat Market on Saturdays & Sundays

Port Blair, July 10: The farmers of Shaheed Dweep have been demanding to allot a suitable place at Port Blair to market their naturally grown vegetables & fruits. In response to their demand, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration directed for providing old Fish market at Junglighat for this purpose. Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration with the objective to popularize organic farming/naturally grown vegetables among the farming community, organized Haat (Buyer- Seller meet) for the farmers of Shaheed Dweep so that they can sell their naturally grown vegetables at the old fish market at Junglighat directly. The farmers can sell their farm produce weekly twice; on every Saturday and Sunday.

Four farmers from Shaheed Dweep brought their farm produce and sold directly to the buyers at this market on July 6, 2019. Farmers can directly interact with the buyers and shall be able to meet their demand as per their requirement. The general public have been asked to avail the benefits from 12 noon to 3 pm on every Saturday and from morning hours on Sundays.
