IGNOU RC-Port Blair conducted plastic free campaign at Port Mout Village



Port Blair, Oct 02: As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign initiated by the Prime Minister of India, from 11th September 2019 to 02nd October 2019, the IGNOU Port Blair has conducted a special drive on No to Plastics and Yes to greenery at the Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya School at Port Mout, the adopted village of IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair. The programme started with a welcome address by the Principal Shri Rajkumar. The Zilla Parishad Member Shri Gadhadar Mazumdar inaugurated the programme and was presided by Shri Mohan Halder the Pradhan of Chouldari Gram Panchayat, Port Blair.  The students and staff of Vivekandanda Kendriya Vidyalaya School as well as staff of IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair planted 25 tree saplings and on this occasion the dignitaries of the programme declared the VKV School a campus fully free of plastics. The programme was performed in conjunction with the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme and was a great success, a communication from Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair said.
