Illegal hand sawn Padauk seized in Baratang

Baratang, Oct 16: Acting on a tip off, the Forest Officials of Baratang Forest Division conducted a search in the jungle of Karanallah, South Creek, Baratang on Tuesday, 15th October, 2019 at around 09:00 am. Hand sawn padauk timber of 0.197 cbm (11 planks & 01 beam) was seized. As culprit involved in this illegal activity escaped from the location. An unknown case is registered for violation of the provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927 and investigation is under process.
The team was led by Mr. Dhanraj Tirkey, Forester, Beat Officer (South creek Beat) and assisted by Mazdoors of this Division. The Divisional Forest Officer, Baratang has, further, appealed to the general public to share credible information pertaining to illegal activities related to forest & wildlife over Phone No.279522 (Nilambur Range), Mob. No.9531956886 (RO, Adajig Range) and Mob. No. 9531860638 (RO, Mobile Squad). The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
