Blair, Jan 29: In order to build leadership capacity for transformation of
schools into effective centres of delivering quality education, a capacity
building programme for Principal / Vice Principal / Head Master (S) under School
Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) is being conducted by the Department of
Education under Samagra Shiksha in the conference hall of State Library through
the Resource persons of Tamil Nadu State Council for Educational Research and
Training (TNSCERT).
The
training programme was inaugurated by Smt. Kriti Garg, Secretary (Edn) today,
in which altogether 50 heads of Secondary/Sr. Secondary level schools across
the Islands are participating. Shri Kamlesh Kumar, Director (Edn), Deputy
Director Education, State Project Officer and Principal SIE were present on the
occasion.
Addressing
the function, the Secretary emphasized the importance of capacity building for
efficient management and administration of schools. She stated that learning is
a continuing process and the processes of change make it necessary for every
head of institution to acquire new skills and update oneself knowledge as per
the need of hour. She conveyed her heartfelt thanks to the key resource persons,
Dr. Shameem, Deputy Director TNSCERT Chennai, Dr. Selvam, Principal DIET, Salem
and Dr. Srinivasan, Principal DIET, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu for coming to the
Islands and imparting valuable training programme to the Heads of Institutions
of these Islands.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Director of Education requested the participants to
utilize the programme and equip themselves with efficient methods of school
management, leadership quality and innovative teaching techniques. He also
urged them to undergo exhaustive training sessions on CCS rules, powers and
functions of DDO and Samagra Shiksha for improving their efficiency and work
output.
