Weighing & measuring instrument should be verified & stamped: CS & CA Department

Port Blair, Feb 5: All business communities and auto-rickshaw owners have been once again informed that the stamping of Weighing and Measuring Instrument has already started in the Office of the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs from 20th of last month. All the traders, vendors and autorickshaw owners have been advised to get their weighing & measuring instrument duly verified and stamped within a period of one month from the publication, failing which, the defaulters will be dealt with seriously as per Legal Metrology Act.
It is once again appealed to all consumer that in case of any complaints in this regard, such as overcharging of package commodities beyond MRP, less weight, any unfair trade practice etc., the same may be brought to notice in writing to the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Port Blair. Consumer can also lodge their complaint over Toll free no. 18003453197 during working hours.
