Blair, Mar 31: The designated laboratory for COVID-19 in A&N Islands,
RMRC–ICMR, Dollygunj was submitted samples of 22 suspects, out of which the
test results of 5 persons have been reported by the lab as negative. Test
results of the rest 17 suspected cases are awaited. It is pertinent to mention
that till date, the UT has conducted test of 119 persons, out of which test of
10 persons were positive while of 109 were negative. The health of all 10
positive persons are normal and stable.
In this regard, the Department of Health
& Family Welfare is listing the contacts of confirmed cases who were picked
up from Mohanpura Mosque and Aberdeen Bazaar Mosque where they were put on home
quarantine. Moreover, the District Administration is also carrying out an intensive
screening of all the households pertaining to the 3 Km radius of houses of
these confirmed cases. The people who are having cold, cough and fever are
being listed as suspected cases and being sent to the laboratory for testing.
Presently, 304 persons are under institutional quarantine in 17 guest houses / private
hotels. Besides that, 1298 people are under home quarantine. The Administration
is closely observing the health conditions of these people and in case they
develop any symptoms of cough, cold and fever their samples will be sent to the
lab for testing.
The people of the Islands therefore have
been requested to inform the Health Department on its helpline 102, if they
observe any symptoms of cold, cough and fever in home quarantine persons.
The general public have been urged to
cooperate with the ongoing House to House screening of suspected cases and
remain in their houses during the lockdown period to ensure prevention of the
spread of virus in the Islands, an official communication said here today.
