Port Blair, May 26: The District Administration in its continuous efforts to provide relief and assistance to the people during the pandemic has taken various pro-active steps to ensure that people feel secure and safe. In this connection the District Administration took first hand stock of the situation in containment zones, functioning of Primary Health Centre at Tushnabad and distributed ration kits to daily wage earners at Wimberlygunj and Kanyapuram in collaboration with NGO.
Continuing with the
field visit to assess the situation at ground level, Shri Suneel Anchipaka,
Deputy Commissioner (SA) and the SDM(SA) visited the recently declared
containment zones in Manpur, Wright Myo and Collinpur. During the visit he
directed the officials engaged in containment duties to ensure that the supply
of essential commodities such as grocery, medicine and other essentials are not
hindered. Further it was directed to make sure that the public movement in and
out of the containment zone to be minimized.
Further the team
visited the Primary Health Centre at Tushnabadand took stock of the facilities
and preparedness of the Centre in tackling the pandemic. The DC(SA) and SDM
also inspected the functioning of the Mobile Testing Team conducting the Rapid
Antigen Test, of ILI/SARI cases. The DC(SA) interacted with the Mobile Testing
Team and directed them to identify the cases in the areas to ensure the safety
of public.
They later visited
Wimberley Gunj and Kanyapuramvillage and distributed ration to the daily wage
earners which was organised and donated by SKSSF Foundation, an NGO. Taking cue
from this, he appealed to other Civil Society Organisations to come forward and
provide relief and assistance to the needy families.
In view of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the District, DC(SA) appealed to the general public for their support and requested them to stay home for the safety of their family and society at large and also sought their co-operation in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
