Port Blair, June 02: A blood donation camp was conducted at GB Pant Hospital by the District Administration in coordination with Civil Society Organisation to address the shortage of blood in the blood Bank of the Hospital on May 31.
This matter was
brought to the knowledge of District Administration asdue to the prevailing
pandemic situation most of the voluntary blood donors were not coming forward
to donate blood.
Taking gravity of the
situation, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) took up the matter
on priority and discussed with Civil Society Organisations and accordingly a
strategy was envisaged whereby a list of willing donors ready to donate blood
to the blood bank was prepared in coordination with Transport department and
Civil Society Organisations such as Friends to Support, Yuva Bharath Samaj Seva
Trust and Hindu Rashtra Sabha. Following this the DC(SA) made all the
arrangements with the line departments for the movement of the donors from
their respective homes to the blood bank for donationand prospective donors
were brought to GB pant.
