New terminal building of VSI Airport is likely to be operational from this June; 96% works done until now, up to mid of May will reach to its 100% completion

TMI Correspondent Port Blair, Apr 17: The most awaited Shell-shaped terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is likely to become operational by this June. A journalists' team today lead by most Senior Journalist, A&N Islands, Shri K. Ganeshan with the consent of Shri G. Prakash Reddy, General Manager (Project), Airport Authority of India made a visit to the under construction building new terminal of VSI Airport on April 17, 2023. The General Manager (Projects), Airport Authority of India, Shri G. Prakash Reddy has informed the scribes that the work was started from April 2017, until now 96% of work is completed and overall cost for the building is Rs.707 crores. Altogether, 363 vehicles (including cars, buses, and taxis) could be parked at one time in the parking area at the terminal premises. Diesel Oil tanker extracting oil at unauthorized location caught red handed; sting operation by YT news channel revealed

Port Blair, Apr 12: At a hidden spot at Namunaghar it is caught in the video that, 'a Diesel Oil Tanker bearing Reg. No. AN01 R 0997 (12KL-40KL capacity) extracting Diesel from the tanker to gallons of more than 10 in Nos. of 20 Ltrs. loaded in a Maruti Omni Reg. No. AN01 J9513'. As per the reporter of YT news channel (News Aap Tak), 'the tanker is supposed to reach Bambooflat Power House from IOC with Diesel Oil load, the reporter further disclosed that about 10 to 12tankers are coming at the spot of Namunaghar on daily basis for the same purposes'.  In the video, the drivers of Oil tanker and the Maruti Omni were seen escaping after seeing the YT news channel reporter and they ran away immediately. Trade Bandh called by ACCI gets good response, even vendors supported the Bandh

Port Blair, Apr 12: The Trade Bandh called by the Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI) got good response in many Islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to sources most of the shops were closed at Great Nicobar, Middle Andaman region, Diglipur region and Hut Bay areas. In a few Islands Autorickshaws were also off the roads. At Port Blair most of the shops were closed and some private buses remained off the road, causing problems to commuters. The impact of the bandh was felt in many parts of the islands right from Diglipur to Campbell Bay with complete shutdown in the port services. However, essential services like petrol pumps, medicine shops etc were exempted from the purview of the bandh so that the general public is not inconvenienced. Even services related to tourists, viz; tourist cars, ferries, hotels, boats etc were allowed to operate with a view that the visiting tourists are able to travel and enjoy the islands without hindrance. First Doctor Mobile Application for screening Oral Cancer launched in A&N Islands

Port Blair, April 12: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS today   launched   the First Doctor Mobile Application for screening Oral Cancer in   A&N Islands in the presence of Commissioner- cum-Secretary ( Health) Shri Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Health), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS,   Director (ANIIMS), Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director (DHS), Dr. Munni Singhania, HOD, Deptt. of Dentistry, ANIIMS, Dr. Ajay Verma, other Senior Doctors of GBPH/ANIIMS. The main objective of this App is to provide early detection and early intervention of precancerous lesions and other oral health problems through self clicked pictures uploaded on the app. The Mobile App was developed by the Department of Dentistry, ANIIMS in collaboration with Quad Monk Solutions and RSI Pvt. Ltd. This facility will enable the person to get the provisional diagnosis within 48 hrs once downloaded.
