MP discuses on water projects with Secretary (APWD)

Port Blair, June 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, along with the Ex-chairperson PBMC, K Ganeshan today met the Secretary, APWD at his office and discussed major water projects proposed in the islands. He informed the Secretary about the difficulties faced by the residents due to the water crisis Six Municipal Wards, particularly during the dry season. He also requested the Secretary, APWD for completing the repair works of pipelines damaged due to the Dairy Farm Culvert Project. The Secretary, APWD informed the MP that out of the two pipelines damaged at the culvert project site, repair work of one pipeline is already completed and repair work of another pipeline is under progress which will also be completed shortly.   TMI Bureau Port Blair, June 09: In the 2nd wave of pandemic in these Islands lot of local private workers and people in general are facing trouble to meet their daily needs because of extended lockdown, and some Social Organizations, Charitable Trusts and Good Samaritans came forward once again to help the needy people in these islands. Accordingly, All India Legal Rights Organisation has distributed Ration Kits among much needed people of Haddo Ward No.2, Mithakari, Ograbranj, Tushnabad, & Chouldari which consist of Rice, 2 types of pulses, 3 types of vegetables, salt, oil, and spices etc. "Efforts are on to help as many needy people of this Islands during this Pandemic Situation" said Mr R. One Incoming Passenger arrested with 5.5 KG of Ganja

Port Blair, June 02: Following credible information that one person is coming to Port Blair from Chennai in a fight with huge amount of Ganja, a joint team of PS Chatham and PS Aberdeen was formed headed by SI Shubham Ghosh & SI Mazumder respectively on May 31. The team soon reached ITF Ground and checked the belonging of the passenger, Mr. Ganesh Baag, a resident of Chennai and seized 5.5 KG of Ganja. The operation was carried out under the leadership of SDPO, South Andaman, ASP Kalaivanan R under overall supervision of Mr. Ravi Kumar, SP SA. It is believed that more arrests are possible in this case as Mr. Ganesh is working for a Ganja Racket in Andaman.

Glowing tributes paid to Galwan martyrs at Buniyadabad

Port Blair, June 24: A solemn homage programme was organised at the Buniyadabad community hall on June 23, 2020 evening to pay tributes to the Galwan martyrs. Residents and youth of Buniyadabad, Ward No-8 under the leadership of Mr. K Ganeshan, Municipal Councillor of this ward, along with the residents and youth of the area paid tributes to the brave Indian soldiers who lost their lives in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley on June 15. TMI Correspondent Port Blair, June 24: It is good news for people that, the PBMC has taken up renovation of nine Community Halls in various Wards for the benefit of the people with the fund of Rs.7.15 crores allotted by Administration. On the other side, the Multipurpose Hall at Buniyadabad is turning into a unique monument as still it is left for display purpose only instead of multipurpose use for the residents of the area since its completion. The Multipurpose hall in Ward No. 8, Buniyadabad has been in a ready condition since 5 years now after its inauguration on 14th August, 2015. But it has been left as a monument without any proper use for the people of the area. The Port Blair Municipal Council is not allowing people to arrange any functions in this community hall.
