Port Blair: A seven-year-old male child was admitted in children ward with complaints of high-grade  fever with chills and rigor and pain in abdomen for the last 2 days. He was in an unstable condition in septic shock and was managed initially in the PICU by the Paediatric intensivists and the child was stabilized. Child was clinically found to have abdominal distension and an enlarged spleen. Hence, the child was referred for expert opinion to the Surgical Department. The child was examined and evaluated by Surgeons with blood investigation and USG abdomen and contrast CT scan and was found to have a large splenic abscess with hemolytic anemic condition namely sickle cell anemia. Since the entire spleen was filled with pus and the child was already on high dose of antibiotics and not responding to it with continuous high grade fever with chills and rigor, the decision was taken for removing the splenic abscess by doing emergency splenectomy. A tragic road accident claims man's life on NH-4 / ATR road

TMI Correspondent Port Blair, August 02: A 51 year man, Mr. Murugeshan (private worker), R/o Guptapara lost his life in a tragic road accident this morning at around 09:15 AM in front of IMFC sale-mela between Minnie Bay and Dollygunj Junction road. The accident occurred when an allegedly speeding car AN01 L 7004 (Swift Dzire) driven by a 33 yrs lady, Mrs. Preeti (govt. servant), R/o Garacharma knocked-down Mr. Murugeshan who was crossing the road by foot. According to eyewitness, "Mr. Murugeshan, a mini cargo van driver, after parking his van on the other side of the road he walked to a nearby mechanic shop to ask something, and while coming back to his parked van by foot he met with this accident. The speeding car approaching from Dollygunj Junction, by seeing that, Mr. Murugeshan tried to make an attempt to step back but turned unfortunate, knocked-down by the speeding car by throwing him 10 mtrs away from the impact point. Brutal murder of a lady in Port Blair city; a massage worker from Kolkata suspected

  TMI Correspondent Port Blair, Aug 02: In a shocking incident, a lifeless body of a 48-year-old lady was discovered on August 01, 2023, in a rented room located in Bathubasti, near Kannan Driving School. The lady, identified as Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal, was a resident of Pathergudda. Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal operated a ladies' beauty parlour in Bathubasti, where she employed a male massage therapist to assist her business. As per sources, the therapist Mr. Naba Kumar Dhar, (35 years) is a native of Kolkata, was provided accommodation in the said rented room by Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal and she used to provide him daily three time meals in his room only. As per reports, on August 01, 2023 Mrs. Shoba Rani Mondal visited her massage worker's room as usual for providing lunch but failed to neither return to her parlour nor respond to any phone calls. Most popular Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, Vakkom Purushothaman no more

Port Blair, Aug 02: The Veteran Congress leader, former Mizoram Governor and the most popular Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Vakkom Purushothaman, passed away at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram on July 31, 2023 following age-related illnesses. He was 96. Purushothaman served as the 6th Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 1993 to 1996. In a tenure just about half of that of the incumbent Lieutenant Governor of A&N Islands, Vakkom Purushothaman has been credited for a number of developmental initiatives taken up in Andaman & Nicobar Islands so much so that he continues to be remembered fondly by the Islanders of A&N Islands. There was an uproarious demand across the Islands to bring him back as the Lieutenant Governor of these Islands after the 2004 tsunami. "Shri Vakkom Purushothaman was committed to the welfare of the people, growth and progress of the Islands. He was an able Administrator, reformer and a rever
