A&N Police introduces AI Chatbot for implementation of New Criminal Laws

Port Blair, May 01: The three New Criminal Laws are set to roll out on 1st July, 2024 ushering in an era of modernized, reformed criminal jurisprudence. Andaman and Nicobar Police proudly announces the launch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Chatbot called "Naye Kanoon Mitra" on April 30, 2024 (Tuesday) by worthy DGP ShriDevesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS in presence of IGP Smti Sindhu Pillai A.,IPS; Shri Ajay Krishan Sharma, IPS; DIG Smti Monika Bhardwaj, IPS and other senior officers of Andaman & Nicobar Police. The chatbot has been created for the ease of understanding and referring to the three New Laws viz. Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). For the first time Seven products from A&N Islands filed for GI Registration

Port Blair, May 01: Prof. Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General, Intellectual Property Rights & Registrar of Geographical Indication and Dr. Rajani Kant, Padma Shri Awardee, Executive Director /General Secretary, Human Welfare Association during their visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands for Consultative Group Meeting on Intellectual Property Rights, called on Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency at Raj Niwas on April 29, 2024. Applications for seven products namely Nicobari Hut, Nicobari Mat, Nicobari Hodi, Virgin Coconut Oil, Andaman Tall Coconut, Andaman & Nicobar Padauk Furniture and Andaman Karen Musley Rice have been filed for Geographical Indication Registration from Andaman and Nicobar Administration for the first time, which is being facilitated by NABARD, Port Blair, an official press release said here.

Port Blair Airport ready for Night Operations: Officials at Utkrosh says

Port Blair, May 01: Aviation infrastructure at INS Utkrosh has undergone significant enhancements with the installation of several equipment under the Project MAFI (Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure) conceived at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi and executed under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC). This includes new Airfield Lighting System (AFLS), Cat II. Explained on April 29, 2024. Approach Lighting System (ALS), Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI). Coupled with the Glide Path (GP) of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) recently installed by AAI, Port Blair has become a Precision Instrument Runway capable of landing during night and poor visibility conditions. Additionally, the Commissioning of Tactical Air Navigation System (TACAN) and Precision Approach Radar (PAR) herald a quantum jump for safety and operations of military flights, including fighter operations. These developments make Utkrosh Airfield fully capable of handling both day and night operations

Port Blair, April 24: Ms. Zohra Banu, daughter of Mohammed Haneefa from Calicut, South Andaman, has made it to the Civil Services by clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 469. An alumna of Port Blair's Ummat Public School and a graduate in B.Tech CSE from Andhra University, Zohra Banu is reported to be pursuing further studies at IIT Madras. Fate of candidates contesting for lone Lok Sabha seat sealed in EVMs; Will be opened on 04 June 2024

Port Blair: The A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency went to poll on 19/04/2024 in the first phase of the General Election to Lok Sabha -2024. Eligible voters queued up at their respective Polling Station to exercise their franchise to elect their representative for the 18th Lok Sabha. Despite the sweltering heat, people including senior citizens and first time voters were seen in various Polling Stations of the city and its suburbs, to cast their votes in their respective Polling Booths. Voters of different age groups expressed their opinions on exercising their right. Various other Polling Stations witnessed long queues of voters lined up to cast their votes fulfilling their fundamental rights.
