But, surprisingly in a popular hotel at very junction of most populated Bhatu Basthi is serving stones adulterated Biryani. According to two youth, 'yesterday in the afternoon they have visited famous hotel at Bhatu Basthi junction and ordered two plates Vegetable Biryani and butter paneer, which was served on the table in few minutes and they started having their lunch, and within few minutes one found a marble sized black stone in his plate, meanwhile another one accidentally found crushed under his teeth while having vegetable biryani in the hotel. "It was informed to the hotel management, but all are pretended as deaf ears in the hotel, and we are simply paid the bills and moved out", alleged the youths.  Port Blair, Nov 7: The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has mandated fitment of GPS based vehicles tracking system in all commercial vehicles. The Transport Department has already started action for empanelment of eligible firm capable of fitting GPS & providing after sales service in the UT. It has been decided to implement the directives in two phases to provide a transition period to the commercial vehicle owners. In first phase, all the public transport buses operated by Transport Department shall be covered and tender has been floated by the Department. In the second phase all other commercial vehicles shall be required to comply with the directives of MoRTH as referred above.

It is well known to the islanders that the influx of Bangladeshies in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands has affected a lot in many ways viz. they are encroaching land, consuming electricity and water, fearlessly. Experts believe that large number of people, suspected to be Bangladeshi, also has local documents. But, now it can been seen destroying relationships in happy families in these Islands. A group of women alleges that, their relationship with their husbands are weakening due to the concubines (a woman who lives with a man but has lower status than his wife or wives) and their husbands used to neglect look after their wife and children and other family members. Port Blair, Oct 23: The A&N Police has solved a blind murder case and arrested two accused. A complaint about the missing of Eshan Dutta @ Subham, S/o Ashok Dutta (19 yrs), R/o Gurudwara Lane was reported at PS Aberdeen on Oct 13. After extensive search, gone through numerous CCTV cameras, door to door enquiries and combing operation of jungle, police could finally ascertain that the missing boy had gone in a white Wagon R car. The investigation team was able to pin point the person with whom the missing person was last seen. After, a thorough interrogation, the accused namely Sidharth Sharma (24 yrs), a boat operator in Water Sports Complex admitted to have dumped the dead body of the missing person in a pit near Chidyatapu. He had also tried to destroy evidences to hide his tracks. Further, preliminary interrogation revealed that the main accused was a young woman who was the girlfriend of the deceased and the reasons behind the murder appear to be love triangle and some differ

Car Nicobar, Oct 16: For the first time in Car Nicobar, shredded plastic has been used for the construction of road work. Administration has been insisting on using 8-10% shredded plastic in bituminous road work as recommended by CRRI. APWD, Construction Division, Car Nicobar on Oct 12, 2019 in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini had started using shredded plastic 8-10% in the ongoing road work 'Improvement of internal road from Kinyuka School to Nicobari Round Hut at Chukchucha for a length of 2.3 kms. This has been an initiative taken by APWD, Car Nicobar for the judicious use of existing plastic waste in public welfare, which in turn minimize the burden of plastic waste from the environment of this territory.

TMI Bureau Port Blair, Oct 02: As part of National Campaign against the single-use plastic and on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Over 25000 cloth bags (made by Skill Development Centre, DBRAIT) were distributed to general public for free by DBRAIT in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Oct 02, 2019. At different distribution points, people at large numbers collected the cloth bags in exchange of a polythene bag. Background: Less than 50 years ago plastic bags were a rarity in the world. In Andaman it's just a decade ago Polyethylene were came into use, but badly affected a lot. Before plastic bags, there was paper or cloth. Paper bags worked but they were not easy to carry and they weren't nearly as strong as plastic. The most important part is paper was more expensive to produce than plastic. As per reliable sources, a group of ten students of Marine Biology from Pondicherry University, Brookshabad have gone for study based snorkeling at Marina Pank for research on the subject they are studying. It was not the first time, but they used to go on a marine study few times ago at different locations in South Andaman. But, when any natural disaster like earthquake hits the islands, people use to rush to wells or ponds for whatsoever water. Islanders can remember the 2004's earthquake, when water supply had been suspended for a couple of weeks due to pipelines damaged in tremor. People used to seek and rush to every available well in urban areas to manage the requirement of water at households. Anyhow, the PBMC and APWD supplied limited drinkable water through water tankers at different parts in urban areas during December 2004 earthquake in the A&N Islands, till the rectification of pipelines. Port Blair, Sept 11: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, GoI has a proposal to develop an iconic park as "Bharat Vandana Park" at New Delhi. Besides other attractions, the main component of the park will be an exclusive area depicting replica of an important monument from each State/ UT of India. This "Mini India Park" segment apart from other facilities will have miniature version of identified iconic/ historical monuments from all parts of India. TMI Correspondent Port Blair, Sept 04: That narrow footpaths, where even two persons cannot walk at one go, exists in Port Blair Smart City at many wards in Port Blair Municipal area. The construction of a narrow footpath at Buniyadabad, a middle portion of which is insufficient even for two human bodies to pass through has led to resentment among the residents of the area. Several complaints have been made to the concerned authorities to rectify the situation, but nothing has so far been done in the matter. A group of residents says that, "The population is growing by time and the uneasiness will also grow in future, if not taken action in time". The residents in the vicinity of the footpath have reasons to feel neglected and uneasy for their grievances having been not met for quite some time now.
