CHYK have organised Inter-College Elocution Competition at Chinmaya Mission

Port Blair, Nov 22: The Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK), the Youth Wing of Chinmaya Mission, organized an Inter-College Elocution Competition on November 19, 2023, in the Mission's Auditorium. The topic for the competition was 'East of West - India is the Best.'

Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Utpal Sharma, the Principal of DBRAIT, was the guest of honor on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted India's growth across various sectors and motivated the students to contribute their efforts toward making India a developed nation. He also expressed happiness over the participants for their research and effective delivery of the speech on the topic.

Dr. Utpal Sharma urged the students to be righteous and strive to improve their surroundings. He emphasized that only by doing so can they collectively contribute to the overall growth in all aspects.

Speaking on the occasion, Swami Shuddananda Saraswati (Guruji at Chinmaya Mission) highlighted the role of youth in the modern era. Meanwhile, Shri Manohar Singh, President of Chinmaya Vaniprasth Sansthan, emphasized the necessity of discipline among the young generation.

Earlier, Mr. N. Murali Krishna, President of CHYK, welcomed the guests, participants and gathering. He said, "Everybody requires a Guru in their lives to guide them properly for the betterment of self and society. For that, we have to choose a deserving Guru to walk through life under his supervision. We are here today to prepare ourselves for the future journey with the blessings of Guruji."



Altogether, 20 students from 7 colleges participated. Mr. Roshan Sharma from DRAIT secured the 1st prize, Mr. Ayush Kumar Dubey from DIET secured the 2nd prize, and Miss Mehak from JNRM received the 3rd prize in the Elocution Competition. Accordingly, awards were distributed to the winners: 1st prize with a trophy, certificate, and a cash amount of Rs.3000/-, 2nd prize with a trophy, certificate, and a cash amount of Rs.2000/-, and 3rd prize with a trophy, certificate, and a cash amount of Rs.1000/-. Participation certificates were also given to all the participants.

Mr. K. Yadagiri Rao, the Secretary of CHYK, took the opportunity to propose the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event. With sincere appreciation, he expressed gratitude to all those who played a role in ensuring the success of the event. He also extended his thanks to the participants for their active involvement and enthusiastic participation and as well expressed appreciation to the judges for their time and expertise in evaluating the participants.

MP discuses on water projects with Secretary (APWD)

Port Blair, June 16: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, along with the Ex-chairperson PBMC, K Ganeshan today met the Secretary, APWD at his office and discussed major water projects proposed in the islands. He informed the Secretary about the difficulties faced by the residents due to the water crisis Six Municipal Wards, particularly during the dry season. He also requested the Secretary, APWD for completing the repair works of pipelines damaged due to the Dairy Farm Culvert Project. New terminal building of VSI Airport is likely to be operational from this June; 96% works done until now, up to mid of May will reach to its 100% completion

TMI Correspondent Port Blair, Apr 17: The most awaited Shell-shaped terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is likely to become operational by this June. A journalists' team today lead by most Senior Journalist, A&N Islands, Shri K. Ganeshan with the consent of Shri G. Prakash Reddy, General Manager (Project), Airport Authority of India made a visit to the under construction building new terminal of VSI Airport on April 17, 2023. The General Manager (Projects), Airport Authority of India, Shri G. Prakash Reddy has informed the scribes that the work was started from April 2017, until now 96% of work is completed and overall cost for the building is Rs.707 crores. Altogether, 363 vehicles (including cars, buses, and taxis) could be parked at one time in the parking area at the terminal premises.
