One more chess player from Islands opened International Chess Rating

Port Blair, Nov 01: It is a proud moment for the Islanders as M Tanish a young chess player from A&N islands has opened his international Chess Rating as per the latest International Rating list published on 31st October 2023 by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). M Tanish, a Class VI student of VKV Lamabline participated in the 36th National under 11 Chess Championship 2023 held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh from 01- 07 October 2023. He played pretty well in the tournament and scored 5 points out of which 4 points were scored against rated players from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab and Telangana that led him to open the International Rating.

Risky Condition of NH-4: Baratang Police dislodges vehicles from potholes and rescues 133 passengers

Baratang, Oct 25: On the 19th of October 2023, an incident occurred at Sastrinallah, Baratang, when a heavily loaded Tipper and an STS Bus got stuck in the deep potholes. Regrettably, this occurrence led to a complete standstill in traffic along NH-4, lasting from 1430 hrs to 2300 hrs. The dedicated efforts of the Baratang Police finally led to dislodging the Tipper and STS Bus from the potholes. As a result of this incident, the last convoy from JPP Middle Strait to JPP Jirkatang was delayed by 9 hours and resuming back at 1215 hrs. The Baratang Police went an extra mile by arranging a late-night dinner for all 133 passengers, which included children and elderly people who were part of the convoy at JPP Middle Strait. CPI (M) urges Nitin Gadkari to make NH-4 in motorable condition and to order CBI investigation

Port Blair, Oct 25: CPI (M) has demanded investigation through Anti Corruption Branch of CBI into the renovation work of National Highway 4 and construction of bridge at Middle Strait in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. CPI (M) has further demanded to take immediate steps to make the NH4 in the Middle Andaman District at least in motorable condition so that sufferings of thousands of people using the road can be minimized to a great extent. Surgery Department in GBPH is succeeded in conducting some major surgeries on patients

Port Blair, Oct. 18: The Surgery Department in GBPH is conducting some major surgeries on patients that are conducted only in few centers of excellence in the mainland. The Department recently conducted breakthrough surgeries in young patients. On 22nd July 2023, a 28 year old male was admitted to GBPH-ANIIMS due to history of fall. The CT scan of head revealed major bleeding in the brain on the back side of the head. He was taken up for an emergency neurosurgical operation on the same day. A team of surgeons headed by Dr. G. Gajendraraj, HoD & Professor-Surgery and supported by Dr. Sharan R. Kumar, Anaesthesiologist successfully conducted the surgery. The patient was subsequently shifted to Surgical ICU, where he regained consciousness the very next day and made ambulant on the 2nd day. He was discharged after one week with no post op sequel. Joint team of CID Unit arrests one and recovers 2.095 kgs of Ganja

Port Blair, Oct 11: On 04/10/2023, on the basis of a credible information, a joint team of PS Central Crime Station and Narcotics Cell of CID Unit under the leadership of Inspector Vishal Ram, SHO PS CCS and Inspr. S.Kannan, I/c Narcotics Cell in a significant breakthrough achieved the arrest of one person involved in illegal drug activities. The accused has been identified as Mohd. Shabib S/o Shri Mohd. Shamim (34) yrs R/o Chandini Chowk, Shadipur. During the operation, the team successfully recovered 2.095 Kgs of Marijuana from the possession of the accused. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and the arrested accused was produced before the court to obtain his police custody remand to ascertain further involvement and source.
