No mercy on group 'C' & 'D' govt. employees; Individuals who have exceeded their designated tenure are compelled to remain stationed in the Southern group of Islands, even if they are female employees

TMI Bureau Port Blair, Nov 15: "When an employee receives a transfer order to the Southern group of Islands, their mindset is initially prepared for a specific period or tenure according to the transfer policy. Despite facing various challenges, including a lack of accommodation facilities, government quarters, guest houses, mess facilities, and boat/ship services, even female employees, proceed with the transfer. However, after their designated tenure is over, they often become victims of favoritism and influence, subject to mockery through biased transfers. It has been observed that many government employees working under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, after serving for several years in the Southern group of remote Islands, are forced to remain stationed there even after the completion of their tenure. Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrated in befitting manner at Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Port Blair

Port Blair, Nov 17: In commemoration of 148th Birth Anniversary of great tribal freedom fighter Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda which is also being celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas and to mark this occasion a weeklong programmes were organized by the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Port Blair and a concluding function was organized on 15th November 2023 at its premises.   Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Bhagwan Birsa Munda to honor him and other tribal freedom fighters as well on celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. Major Fire Incident at Phoenix Bay and Dairy Farm in Port Blair on the eve of Diwali 2023

Port Blair, Nov 15: City witnessed 02 major fire incidents on Nov 12, 2023. The First incident occurred at Phoenix Bay near Hotel TSG Emerald View in a wooden structured storage godown at 1902 hrs. involving blast of Acetylene, Ferron, and LPG Cylinders, which rapidly spread to the adjacent wooden structure dwelling house. 07 Fire tenders, 01 Bouser and 01 Foam Tender from Fire Station Aberdeen, Chatham, Marine, Haddo Wharf, and Garacharma were promptly rushed to the spot and pressed into service to douse the flames. Fire Brigade team, despite facing series of blasts, effectively conducted the Fire Fighting Operation and prevented the spread of flames to adjacent residential and commercial shops. Local Congress stages ‘Chakka Jam’ and ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ in Baratang, Rangat and Diglipur against the dire condition of NH-4 road

TMI Bureau Port Blair, Nov 08: To press the Central Government and A&N Administration to reconstruct and repair the damaged NH-4 road, the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee organized a massive "Chakka Jam"' and "Jail Bharo Andolan" in 3 places of North & Middle Andaman District here on Wednesday. The protest at Rangat was led by ANTCC President Shri Rangalal Halder, while the protest at Diglipur was led by ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Shri TSG Bhasker and the protest at Baratang was led by Zilla Parishad Member Shri Alagarswamy. The impact of the Chakka Jam was visible on the roads, as all types of vehicles remained off the road across Baratang, Rangat and Diglipur and all shops were shut down. Port Blair, Nov 01: It is a proud moment for the Islanders as M Tanish a young chess player from A&N islands has opened his international Chess Rating as per the latest International Rating list published on 31st October 2023 by the World Chess Federation (FIDE). M Tanish, a Class VI student of VKV Lamabline participated in the 36th National under 11 Chess Championship 2023 held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh from 01- 07 October 2023. He played pretty well in the tournament and scored 5 points out of which 4 points were scored against rated players from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab and Telangana that led him to open the International Rating.

Risky Condition of NH-4: Baratang Police dislodges vehicles from potholes and rescues 133 passengers

Baratang, Oct 25: On the 19th of October 2023, an incident occurred at Sastrinallah, Baratang, when a heavily loaded Tipper and an STS Bus got stuck in the deep potholes. Regrettably, this occurrence led to a complete standstill in traffic along NH-4, lasting from 1430 hrs to 2300 hrs. The dedicated efforts of the Baratang Police finally led to dislodging the Tipper and STS Bus from the potholes. As a result of this incident, the last convoy from JPP Middle Strait to JPP Jirkatang was delayed by 9 hours and resuming back at 1215 hrs. The Baratang Police went an extra mile by arranging a late-night dinner for all 133 passengers, which included children and elderly people who were part of the convoy at JPP Middle Strait. CPI (M) urges Nitin Gadkari to make NH-4 in motorable condition and to order CBI investigation

Port Blair, Oct 25: CPI (M) has demanded investigation through Anti Corruption Branch of CBI into the renovation work of National Highway 4 and construction of bridge at Middle Strait in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
